Introduction
We are a non-profitable voluntary and a registered charity organisation. Membership is open to all people. (see Membership)
Our main objectives are:
Our organisation was founded in 1988, with a wish of parents to teach their children Chinese. Over the years we have overcome many obstacles and have built up a good foundation. Now the organisation holds Chinese language classes as well as cultural activities for the Milton Keynes Community.
Organisation:
We are solely run and staffed by volunteers, and governed by our Constitution. Our success is very much dependent on the commitment, energy and abilities of individual volunteers.
Position:
We are a member of the UK Federation of Chinese Schools, British Chinese Forum, Milton Keynes Council of Voluntary Organisation and working closely with the Milton Keynes Council.
Our Sunday school has more than 200 students enrolled in our classes, ranging from year one standard to A-Level, and an English class for adults whose mother tongue is not English. We also have two Mandarin classes, one for adults and one for children. A list of classes that we are proving this year can be found here.
Our Community Centre runs classes and organises activities of general interests such as Chinese Chess, Festive Chinese Cookery, Chinese Arts and Crafts, Chinese Painting and Chinese Calligraphy amongst others.
We have also hosted and participated in many cultural events, such as the annual Dragon Boat Racing or multi-cultural music and dance events held in or outside Milton Keynes; not forgetting the Chinese New Year Celebration held annually.
We are regularly invited by the local and national government and other agencies to attend their strategic community and educational planning meetings where we can voice out opinions for the community.
Plans:
To promote more cultural activities for our community, for example the collaboration of an orchestra.
To achieve this, we need your SUGGESTIONS and HELP.
Being a voluntary organisation, we welcome benefactors as well.
Please email us and send us your suggestions.
If you are interested in becoming a member or even one of our volunteers, select the Forms option where you can select either Membership form or Volunteer Application form, complete one and send it to correspondence address.
