Important School Updates and Reminders (05/10/2025):
Dear Parents and Guardians,
It has been a real pleasure welcoming students back to school and seeing them settle into their new class groups. We are proud of how quickly the children have adapted to their classrooms and routines—there’s already a wonderful sense of energy and learning throughout the school.
To help everything run smoothly, we’d like to share some key reminders and updates, including important changes to drop-off, pick-up, and school security.
Drop-off and Pick-up Policy (Effective from 5th October 2025)
To strengthen safety and security, we are reinstating the following measures:
- Morning Arrival
- The school gate opens at 9:15 am. Staff will be on duty to supervise students and ensure only authorised people enter.
- Please avoid arriving earlier, as staff may not yet be in position to supervise.
- Parents Entering the Building
- Parents/guardians are not permitted to enter the building at drop-off, unless specifically authorised by staff.
- Students should say goodbye at the gate and walk independently to their classrooms. Staff are available in corridors to assist younger children if needed.
- Late Arrivals
- The gate closes at 9:40 am for a full safety check.
- If you arrive late or need to collect your child during the day, please call our emergency number 07391 128601 (school hours only).
- Pick-up (from 11:30 am)
- Students in P07 and below: Parents must collect directly from the class teacher, unless written permission has been provided for alternative arrangements.
- Students in P07 and above: May leave the building independently or be collected from the teacher.
- Afterschool Clubs
- Teachers will take registered students to their club between 11:35–11:45 am.
- Parents should collect children at 12:45 pm directly from the club teacher.
Google Classroom
Thank you for helping students join Google Classroom with the correct accounts. If you are still experiencing difficulties, please contact the school office for support.
Homework
Homework is shared via Google Classroom (we recommend using the mobile app for convenience). Please support your child in submitting work on time, as 10% of the term grade is based on timely submissions.
Absence Notification
If your child will be absent, please notify the class teacher in advance by email or Google Classroom. Attendance also counts for 10% of the term grade. The school calendar is available on our website.
School Uniform
For safeguarding reasons, uniform is compulsory for all students (except Adult Class). Please contact the school office if you still need to order.
Breaktime Supervision
- Breaks are staggered by year group to reduce crowding.
- Staff conduct regular checks during breaks, and students must remain inside unless there is an emergency (e.g. fire alarm).
- Younger children are accompanied to the toilets by staff.
These routines are designed to keep our school environment safe, organised, and welcoming. We sincerely appreciate your understanding and cooperation.
As a reminder, our school is run by a dedicated academic team supported by trustees and volunteers. We kindly ask all families to treat teachers and volunteers with respect. Any abusive behaviour will not be tolerated, and the school reserves the right to deny entry to those involved.
Thank you, as always, for your continued support.
Warm regards,
MK Chinese School
